Welcome to The Wheatsheaf, Llanhennock

Boules Club

The Wheatsheaf Inn has one of the largest petanque clubs in South Wales with nearly 40 members. It’s a friendly club, that hosts a number of major events each year, and visiting players and novices are always welcomed and encouraged.

We have club competitions throughout the year, as well regular friendly ‘melees’. We also hold a number of social events through the year, including an annual trip to France (where, despite our best efforts, we are beaten with good humour by a variety of French clubs) and our legendary Christmas do.

Petanque (the proper name for boules) is an easy game to learn, and is very sociable: it’s an ideal family game because men and women, and people of all ages compete on a fairly even footing. Boules are available to borrow from behind the bar, and the rules are available here on the site, and are also posted on the Club noticeboard. Have a go!
